Our recent RYA Coastal Skipper sailing course took us from Gibraltar out along the Spanish Atlantic coast to the historic city of Cadiz. Along the way we called at the "deserted village" of Sancti-Petri, entering the shallow channel at night called for precise navigation and accurate timing in this tidal secondary port. An added twist to the pilotage was the discovery of 2 of the lateral marks washed up on the beach, following a recent storm!!!! Once secured to a mooring bouy in the fast flowing river we had time for a short sleep prior to a fascinating run ashore to explore this partially deserted village.
