Yacht Masters Pass in Gibraltar Sept 09

Chris Wicks and Woulter Hazebroek, successfully completed there RYA Yachtmaster Prep training here in Gibraltar followed by a gruelling RYA/MCA examination, resulting in 2 passes with flying colours, well done to both of them.

We run Yachtmaster Prep weeks throughout the year, of 1,2 or 3 weeks duration depending on your sailing experience and level of confidence.

Sotogrande-Ceuta 2 Handed race Sept 09

25 local yachts took part in last weekends short handed race from Sotogrande to Ceuta.
light airs at the start soon increased to a blustery 25 knots Westerly once past Europa Point, Gibraltar. Events included the unfortunate dis-masting of one yacht which lost control whilst crossing the bows of an anchored Merchant ship! Timon Roche stood on to help, receiving second place honours after redress.
Victory went to the consistently sailed Ciudad de Ceuta
Seawolf finished in a respectable 5th place.
The next sailing event local to Gibraltar is the Ceuta 2+2 Regatta commencing on the 25th September.

We have one crew place remaining for this years Rolex Middle Sea Race on board Seawolf, which we are offering by means of a sealed bid auction. Described as the most beautiful offshore race in the World, the course is 606 miles around Sicily, passing through the mystical Straits of Messina and using active volcanoes as race marks. Mount Etna dominates the skyline to the west emitting lava and ashes into the night sky, a very rare sight for offshore yacht racers. We are limiting the places to 6 people for this years Rolex Middle Sea race, plus one skipper and professional first mate. Arriving in Malta on the 12th October, the Middle Sea Race team will train for five days, competing in a coastal race on the 14th, tuning their skills and building a strong working team before the start of the main race on the 17th of October 2009.
