Sotogrande to Ceuta Race
Saturday, June 27, 2009
Last weekends Sotogrande to Ceuta Yacht Race got off to a slow start with light airs and strong tides.Noticia wriggled away through the wind holes behind the rock of Gibraltar to take first place overall, followed by Suka, Ciudad de Ceuta and Seawolf in Fourth place.
The result left us second in class and fourth overall out of 17 competing boats, a great effort by all on board who were all new to yacht racing having completed only 1 evenings training prior to this race, well done to all who sailed with us.

Atlantic Charters Racing-Newsletter First Edition
Welcome to the first of what will be our regular newsletter from Atlantic Charters Racing.
Our intention is to keep you informed about sailing events and opportunities available here in Gibraltar throughout 2009 and beyond. 2009:
Off to a flying start!
Seawolf and her crew are currently leading the Sotogrande Winter League, with 5 first places, 2 seconds and one DNC, we are holding off local rivals "Fendemares" and "Titicaca" with a lead of 10 points. We have just 3 more weekends of racing left to clinch this prestigious championship, these are;
25th April
2nd May
6th June
Crew Places are available for all the above dates at a cost of £130.00 per weekend, please follow Sotogrande Yacht Racing for full details.
Yacht racing is not only exciting and exhilarating; it is also an opportunity to develop teamwork and leadership skills in a demanding yet rewarding environment. The majority of people who race with us on board "Seawolf" find themselves in very unfamiliar situations far from their usual comfort zones, be that an office, workshop, salon, bank, shop, school, or elsewhere!As their Skipper and Trainer it gives me immense pleasure to see people adapt, evolve and quickly become competent and confident as part of a focused team, whose primary goals are team work, enjoyment and ultimately, victory. There are few feelings as satisfying as winning a closely fought yacht race! These weekend races and preceding training weekends are an invaluable opportunity for you to train with your own team, here in the sunshine of Gibraltar and prior to the start of the 2009 major sailing regattas.
Please contact us to discuss your personal training requirements.
RYA Training:
Alongside our race training programmes, we have now developed a very high standard and locally respected RYA training centre. We are in our second year of providing RYA training courses and currently have an enviable 100% pass rate for clients taking their Yachtmaster Certificate, which is a gruelling 12 hour practical examination assessed by an independent RYA/MCA approved Examiner.
We also conduct courses for the total novice, which take place over a weekend, this is an ideal opportunity for you to test the water, to see what sailing is all about and to discover if it is for you before committing to a full week of training.
