Alboran Race 2010

coastal race 09
After winning the Sotogrande Winter League in 2008/2009 we are disappointed by not having the opportunity to defend our title in 2009/2010 as Real Club Maritimo Sotogrande are not running the series this Winter. Hopefully we will get the chance in 2010/2011?

Our first 2 Yacht Racing Events of 2010 are therefore:

Benalmadena Regatta April 3rd-4th.

XXX111 Regata Mar de Alboran 29th April to 1st May.

This race is one of the classic offshore Yacht races of this area. Starting at
Club Nautico de Motril the fleet head to the tiny Isle of Alboran situated in the centre of the Western Mediterranean, a distance of 81 miles, after rounding the Island to port the homeward leg is back to Motril making a total race distance of 162miles. The race record from 2001 is an amazing 8 hours 11 minutes and 32 seconds, held by “Heaven Mijas”. A realistic race time for “Seawolf” is approximately 20 to 24hours.

The race starts at 1600hrs on Thursday 29th April, finishing sometime on Friday 30th.
On Saturday night dinner will be held along with the awards ceremony.
